As a young student, TRCG President, Khalil found myself in a bit of trouble for operating what can only be described as a Candy Cartel within his middle school. Yes, you read that right. A multi-tiered grade-school candy sales team. Needless to say, his parents were far from thrilled with the school-based entrepreneurial venture. However, amidst the scolding, his father imparted words that would stay with him forever. He said, "You know, I never have to worry about you. You're always gonna be OK."

That single statement, uttered in the midst of candy-selling escapades, left a lasting impression. It showed that his father saw beyond the rule-breaking and recognized his drive to build something successful.

Over the following years, Khalil found himself climbing a corporate ladder for career success. And while celebrating that success, Khalil’s father never stopped his gentle nudge to follow his entrepreneurial footsteps. It was not until recently that a restructuring at Khalil’s employer, a personal need for recalibration, and his parents' retirement presented a perfect opportunity. So with unwavering support and the legacy his father had built, Khalil took over his father’s consulting firm and restructured it into Thomas Regulatory Consulting Group (TRCG).

TRCG is more than just a business venture. It symbolizes the culmination of this larger story, one that highlights the extraordinary relationship between a father and son. Khalil’s parents — Jamaican immigrants both — arrived to the United States with only $3000 to their name, and his father built his own successful IT consulting company; would pass that torch and passion for technology to the same mischievous kid who found himself in trouble for selling bookmarks, candy, and mixtapes to his grade school classmates.

But as Khalil’s father saw through that mischief, understanding the intent to build a business for himself; it's our goal to go beyond the typical compliance consulting firm.
